ITER

Identity rebranding – A public R+D+i institution with the aim of promoting sustainable development and innovation.

The ITER is an international reference research centre in renewable energies, engineering, telecommunications and environmental awareness.

In 2015, the Instituto Tecnológico y de Energías Renovables (Technological and Renewable Energies Institute) accomplished 25 years as an international reference centre in the development and promotion of technology in order to boost renewable energy consumption, along with focusing research on other fields which can contribute to the improvement of the socio-economic development of the Canary Islands.

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, a rebranding of the organisation’s original identity was undertaken. This is the first revision of the brand since ITER was founded in 1990. The new corporate identity was presented in a commemorative event on the 16th of September 2015 at ITER’s Visitor’s Centre and was attended by Mr Ricardo Melchior Navarro (President of ITER and President of the Insular Council of Tenerife between 1990-2013) and Mr Carlos Alonso Rodríguez (President of the Council between 2013-2019).

Apart from designing the new combination mark, a complete rebranding project was launched: stationery design, advertising, signalling, a new corporate website, etc.

ITER’s new identity reflects the current mission and values of the organisation. Over the last years, ITER’s activity has diversified towards other areas, engaging in remarkable engineering, telecommunications and software development projects. This is the reason the new rebranding reflects the relevance of ITER in renewable energies, engineering and new technologies sectors.

The colour palette primarily consists of two hues: laurel green and grey stone. Both colours were carefully chosen to transmit a natural and ecological palette, thanks to their soft and low saturation tints. Green colours transmit balance and delight our eyes. When this hue is used as a corporate colour palette, it represents growth, peace and is highly associated with environmentally-friendly organisations.
